We primarily operate in tier II & tier III cities with the chain of “Value Retail” departmental stores. Our stores cater the needs of the entire family altogether by offering apparels, general merchandise and kirana goods.
“Price Less Fashion” is the Main Motto through which we believe in providing the latest trends to the upwardly mobile Indians at the best possible price.
We have 107 stores across 90 cities in 12 states and union territories,with a total retail area of 8.72 Lac sq.ft (8.10 Thousand Sq Mtr.). Our stores are located in prime cities such as Bihar, Chandigarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, New Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. We are among the pioneers in setting up modern ambiance stores or large retail malls across various small towns and cities like including Sultanpur, Ujjain, Motihari and more.
First incorporated as Varin Commercial Private Limited under the Companies Act in 2002 in West Bengal. Then in 2003, we opened our maiden store in Ahmedabad (Gujarat).
In the Year 2004 we have opened our first store in capital city, new delhi.
Further in 2006 we have crossed 1 lac sq.ft. retail space and subsequently renamed to V-Mart Retail Private Limited.
In the year of 2008, we hit the base by registering V-Mart Retail as a public limited entity and also crossed the turnover of 1,000 million INR As the time passes by we took the shape of a renowned family brand that caters the needs of whole family by offering high quality retail products. Along with growing customers, we achieved a turnover of over INR 2,000 million in 2011-12
In the Year 2012 we have crossed the retail space of 5 lac Sq. Ft.
We have a standalone concept of One Stop Family Shop with a comprehensive portfolio of retail product offerings and a large assortment of product categories catering to the entire needs of the family.
With providing contemporary fashion at a reasonable price. V-Mart has been successful in creating an identity for itself amongst the target segment of the society. For the convenience of customers as well as to identify the store’s stock requirement and sales pattern, V-Mart has internally created 4 divisions/formats that are mentioned below. In certain stores the company has blended two concepts into one if required.
This format caters to the young generation and hence the focus of the company is to provide GEN X latest trends in fashion. The target customers are the youth and hence the designers in the company study the market trend to purchase and stock the merchandise accordingly.
These stores cater to all the age groups and serve the basic needs of customers and provide contemporary fashion as well. Since the store serves customers of all age group and across the sections of the society, the company stocks the merchandise accordingly. These stores are normally in an area where the target customers range from kids to senior citizens.
These stores are targeted at customers from the age group 22-25 years and serve their contemporary fashion needs. The merchandise in these stores are specifically for office going individuals, both male and female and this line has been internally termed by the company as Gold Line Fashion. These stores are located in areas where the population mostly comprises of working professionals.
These stores cater to all age group formats focusing on basic needs keeping in mind the economic status of the region where the store is situated. But along with providing low cost products with good fashion, the quality of the products is not compromised on and the company provides value for money while manufacturing/purchasing low cost products.
Mr. Lalit Agarwal,
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from Bombay University, and a Diploma in Financial Management from the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai. He was also involved in setting up of a printing and packaging unit, a water theme park in Kolkata and was associated with a retail chain till 2003. He has more than 16 years of rich experience in the retail industry. With a vision to establish the concept of “value retailing” in certain untapped regions of India, he setup up units of retail stores under the brand name of “V-Mart” in the year 2003. He spearheads the company and is responsible for formulating and implementing the business plans.

Mr. Hemant Agarwal
He garnered his Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from Utkal University, Cuttack. He started his career by joining the family retail store in Cuttack and was integral in the formation of the company. He has experience in tackling and resolving the issues in retail industry and has been instrumental in developing a strong vendor base thereby, strengthening the procurement of apparel merchandise, which is the backbone of our retail malls. He is also responsible for managing the growth and development of our private labels and persistently working as a catalyst for business operations of our existing stores and continued expansion in western and central India.
Mr. Madan Agarwal
He has the Bachelor’s Degree in Arts from the City College, the University of Calcutta. He has more than 3 decades of experience in retail industry. He started his career by opening a retail shop in the year 1975 and later on in 1979 opened another retail store of apparels and footwear in Cuttack known as “Shreeman Shreemati”. He is a mentor and a guiding force for our Company’s growth. He provides vital rationale inputs and insights time to time on cost control and the overseas procurement of general merchandise and Kirana Bazaar business verticals of our Company.
Mr. Aakash Moondhra
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from the University of Delhi and Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Southern Methodist University, Texas. He is a steady member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. He has held various positions in Nokia India Private Limited, Baring Private Equity Partners (India), heading the retail vertical, Bharti Retail Private Limited, Bharti Airtel Limited and AT&T Corporation and currently working as a chief financial officer in Jasper Infotech Private Limited, (www.snapdeal.com).
Mr. Murli Ramachandran
Murli Ramachandran is a Management Consultant and CXO Coach specializing in transformation & strategy, performance improvement, leadership development and change management . He has about 30 years of rich and varied experience in well known MNC as well as Indian companies. During his career he has held key leadership positions such as Operating Partner of TVS Capital Funds, MD of Sanmar Speciality Chemicals, MD of RPG Life Sciences, President of RPG Enterprises, and Partner / Associate Partner of KPMG Consulting and of Accenture. Murli has a BE (Hons) degree in Mech Engg and an MMS degree from BITS Pilani; he also has an MS in Industrial Engg from Columbia University, New York.
Ms. Sonal Mattoo
Sonal Mattoo is a lawyer with 19 years of post qualification work experience. She holds a B.A., LL.B. (Hons) degree from the prestigious, National Law School of India University, Bangalore. Her schooling is from The Lawrence School Sanawar.
She is specialising in workplace harassment, diversity issues, mediation matters, matrimonial issues and negotiations.
She is Founder Director at “Helping hands”, a NGO which specialises in dealing with the issues of women, children and senior citizens. She is also founder and principal consultant of Mantran Consultants, a firm specializing in CSR activities, Counselling, Diversity policies and workshops.
Sonal helps implement policies against Sexual Harassment / gender sensitization and other forms of harassment and discrimination at the work place, besides carrying out training and investigation on complaints filed with the organization. (Fraud, mis-management, tampering of data, financial irregularity, workplace harassment, bullying, etc.)
Sonal is a Non-Executive Independent Director at Ashiana Housing Limited (a listed company) where she is the Chairperson of Investor’s Grievance Committee and member of the Audit Committee and Remuneration Committee of the directors. Sonal is also a Non-Executive Independent Director of Vatika Marketing Limited.
